I was cleaning a little while ago and came upon an envelope to go online and renew our license plate stickers. This notification was actually for the older SUV. I gave it to my husband and asked him to go online and check that we are up to date.
I am not sure what he discovered while online, but he took down some numbers and headed out to both of the vehicles for something.
He was outside for quite a while. When he returned he asked me if I had the ownership and insurance slips for the newer SUV. Of course I do not. He looks after that.
He would have taken out the little plastic pouch to change out the insurance slips where the ownership is last summer when our insurance policy was renewed.
Right now he is looking under the front seat to see if it happened to fall between the console and the driver's seat. Otherwise he will have to go online and order a replacement ownership. I do not think that he will be driving until that is processed and arrives. By law you must have it in the vehicle when driving.
Have you ever lost such an important document?

Crisis adverted, he just came back inside and told me that he found it.
The little plastic case was new a couple of years ago and with only 2 little sleeps of paper in it, it is very thin.
He overlooked seeing it the first time that he was in the console.

@shaggin Yes, we have to keep the vehicle ownership, which is a small little piece of paper a little larger than a credit card, along with the insurance slip, also about the same size. You keep them in a plastic little holder which is small, but you keep it hidden in your console so that nobody steals it.

I read the comment that it was found - thank goodness! Hubby does keep most of the paper work stuff organized and in the safe . . . but sometimes things go where they're not supposed to . And I have pulled the I-know-it's-here-somewhere along with all the stresses that come with that .

Yes, thankfully he did find it.
It is law that we have the little pink slips in the vehicle for the ownership and for the insurance when you drive it.
They can be replaced, at a cost, but you have the wait time for Canada Post which means no driving that SUV during that time frame.

@Juliaacv I think it's that way here - well, the registration and insurance proof anyway. I think we have the pink slips in the safe. But here, I'll bet there are loads of people who simply cannot wait and will drive anyway . . . they will assume they won't get caught .

@Juliaacv - I am so glad Julia. My husband could not find the keys of our entry door yesterday. I was ready to ask to a locksmith to change our door lock, I found his keys under our bed. He surely had them in the pocket and did not hear them fall.

We have to get a new title for one of our cars. We don't drive it anymore; but someone wants to buy it. Have a good day.

We have to have them in the vehicle when we drive anywhere with it.
It is necessary to provide to the police if you get pulled over and also necessary if you are in an accident.
Fortunately he went back out and did locate that little plastic pouch.
The slips for both the ownership as well as the insurance are not much bigger than the size of a credit card. There is alot of information on 2 tiny piece of papers.

@LindaOHio I think that the only difference is the term registration, we call it ownership. There is no other form stating that you own it.

@Juliaacv In Ohio we have to have your license and registration in the car at all times.

I lose all kinds of things and when I order replacements, then they show back up.

This was a first for us.
It was only missing for a brief while, he did locate it in the console where it needs to be.
It was not very light when he looked for it, and for all of the little lights inside of the vehicle, none shine directly down into the console.

Our province no longer requires us to put the physical sticker on our plates.
The cost of them is now 0, but you do have to go online and register it at least every 2 years.
They have really changed the entire vehicle registration process here, which is wonderful.
He did go back out and double check with a flashlight that he could see better inside of the console, and he found it-thankfully.

Oh my goodness. I know it is a bad feeling to lose something that important. I hope he finds it.
