November 12 goal discussion about the oatmeal i made?

Good morning! I have always tried to make oatmeal through the last 50+ years and have never once succeeded in making it correctly. it was always more like a soup. This morning I decided to make the store-brand oatmeal I bought instead of brand-name oatmeal because it was so much cheaper. the brand name was outrageously expensive. I ma glad i bought the store brand as it had better directions This time the directions told me I didn't have to put the whole amount of milk in it they suggested up to an amount. then after i put in the oats. it gave me a broad range of cooking time in the microwave. Today I didn't put all the milk in the bowl and then i microwaved it in increments of 20 seconds. I put it in the microwave for almost 2 minutes. and And I have to say I am proud of myself because for breakfast this morning I made decent oatmeal that was the consistency of oatmeal!!!! I can really get into this cooking! i will be making oatmeal similarly in the future as that made my belly nice and warm! Do you like oatmeal? do you ever make it for breakfast?

When I used to eat oatmeal I’d sprinkle crumbled pecans and golden raisins in it. It was very good. And congratulations on making it so well!

@LovesEverybody Just add the golden raisins right before you’re set to eat it, and it will be delicious. Don’t microwave them though or they’ll taste funny.

I enjoy my oatmeal with golden raisins, too, and a bit of dark brown sugar. But I can't gag down the instant stuff...I use old fashioned oats, and cook them on the stove. The texture of the instant doesn't do a thing for me, and I've never cared for it.

No. But I eat cereal without milk, lol! For breakfast I like fried rice, hotdogs and eggs. I didn't know making an oatmeal is complicated, but I guess it is just the same of me making an iced coffee... I never make any iced coffee that taste better, that's why I just buy outside if I need one. I need iced coffee for work, I have to stay awake.

I never had cereal without milk! i am going to have eggs for breakfast this week i haven't had them yet as I keep forgetting to make them. I think making oatmeal is not complicated for most people-- however, it has always proven a challenge for me to make until today. I have never tasted iced coffee-- I don't drink any kind of coffee. But I do the same as you and buy outside for some things that I cannot make on my own that i enjoy. I can't drink iced coffee because i do not allow any amount of any type of caffeine in my diet because it interacts with medication

@LovesEverybody Since I was a child I have always preferred savor oatmeal to sweet. So when I have a package of quick oatmeal I measure how much water I need, when it boils, I add some powder chicken bouillon and then measure out the oatmeal I need, Mix and let stand and then add whatever else I want,

i never heard of the way you eat it. i think sausage and bacon would make it good-- more like a breakfast dish since sausage and bacon is frequently eaten as a breakfast. where did you get the idea to use chicken bouillon? it sounds like that and the meat would make it savory

I enjoy rolled oats because they are considered healthier. I usually add milk and fresh fruit to them.

@LovesEverybody Maybe some stores there sell rolled oats. I have never tried adding cinnamon before, but I will give it a try next time :)

@freelancermariagrace i am pretty sure stores here sell rolled oats. i ate oatmea that morning but I had it sitting in the box a year or so. I don't remember when i bought them if they have rolled oats. I just know the box i bought was the cheapest, the brand-name boxes were outrageous in price Cinnamon is a pretty popular spice to add to oatmeal here. The boxes of flavored ones I usually buy usually have one or sometimes two cinnamon-flavored ones. usually cinnamon and apples. That is my favorite of all time! Yes, try adding cinnamon you won't be sorry!

i can't eat it plain. I need some kind of flavor. Have you ever added fruit as some fruit could still make it a healthy balanced diet? maybe even healthier i like cinnamon-flavored oatmeal the most-- but I love cinnamon in any food I eat so that just may be me
