The medical technologist found it really difficult to find my veins where she would extract blood. That means pain. It took her around ten minutes to be able to get blood from my arms. I experienced this from my last two blood extractions. One time at the hospital, they extracted from my vein near my knuckles, it was also painful.
Have you experienced this?

@aureategloom it is a much better site but the medical technologist has only one size needle so it hurts more

I am so sorry you had that experience while having blood drawn. If you have a good medical tech doing it, it should be less painful these days. However, some patients have tiny veins that are difficult for them to locate, particularly if the person performing the procedure is also inexperienced; they will find it difficult to make the veins visible on the skin.

I have 2 problems with my veins. First they were always tiny and they hid from the people in charge. But then, after I had chemo, my veins stopped being elastic (it happens to everyone after chemo) and when I need to have blood extracted, I have to explain in full so that they bring the best parson they have and the tiniest needle.

I don't have any real problems with blood draws. Sometimes. But a lot of times I'm known as a hard stick because I'm usually dehydraded. A day or two before you go in for a blood draw, drink a bit more fluid. It'll help.

@rakski Just avoid things like coffee or soft drinks the day before a blood draw as they are very dehydrading.

Wow! I hope it does not traumatized you, sometimes you need an expert to do it. I also have the same experience, when I am young, but the next nurse that was assigned to me is an expert, I feel sorry to the kid next to my bed hospital, her blood spill on the floor, until they found her vein, and her mom was angry. The nurse who took her child IV is not that good.
