Have called for 5 nights straight and my husband did not answer his cell phone. He left it on; so I am able to call him. He's probably not answering because of the sundowners or because his phone needs to be charged....or both. I will call the nurses' station today.
I requested a copy of the rehab facilities in the area from the woman that works out of the local hospital. She sent me a copy of nursing homes. If they don't have physical therapy, I'm not interested in sending my husband there. He CANNOT lie in bed every day. I'm going to call her this morning.
I'm also going to call the Medical Guardian woman this morning. She sent me info on their medical alert pendant program. I think it's going to run around $60 per month. Better than $109 plus tax.
Thank you for your continued support, prayers and thoughts.

I hope you can find a placement for hubby you are happy with. Good deal on the medical Guardian bracelet.

After rehab, (and let's face it this is the second places that thinks they can't really progress with him and get him where you think he should be) a nursing home would be your only other option for twenty/7 care. I've been a volunteer at nursing homes, and even visited my mother-in-law in one. While nursing homes don't provide therapies (unless prescribed by a doctor) patients aren't left in bed all day like they normally are in rehab. Your husband would basically have more freedom, only with nursing care. So I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss those as options. Because they are homes for elederly people that allow them have productive days. Often activities for them to do and allows them to interact with other people.

@LindaOHio It is a huge problem. A rehabe facility is basically a hospital with a gym. You don't have the freedom to get up and move around as you would like. You don't see very many new faces. You may not get therapy everyday. A nursing home is not ideal, but it is a perment option that would provide 24/7 care without confining patients to their rooms. So I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it as an option. Because unless you're ready for the lng haul to recovery, with the falling, with the issues, with the fact that you may not get insurance to cover twenty-four hour care, then you might want to consider a home. Tour some, talk to other residents before saying "no".

I think part of the problem is that he doesn't see many people in a day. I'm sure he feels isolated.

I am trying to make out the VA application online. It doesn't like the copies of his driver's license.

@LindaOHio Is there a placement co-ordinator in your community that can assist you for his needs?

@Juliaacv Yes. She sent me a list of places. Most are not rated well or are too far.

Hope you find a good place for your hubby and definitely one with PT. The sooner he gets out of there the better.
The cost of Medical Guardian sounds better than Life Alert.
Continued good thoughts and prayers for you Linda

He's in a new one which is much worse than the one before. I may have to send him back to the old one.

sounds like something is going on that he's not answering the phone
& your going to be busy on the phone on where to send your husband
to get the best care he can get which I feel isn't going to be easy.

@LindaOHio That's so heart braking, to know that so many
places that care for the elderly could be so bad & careless
