Because of course. This is the guy who also said he would be a dictator on Day 1 and that if he was re-elected no one would have to vote any longer. It is amazing that after all of these years his supporters claim that he is joking or being sarcastic. He LITERALLY is telling people what he wants to do and we all should believe him.
Today Trump returned to Washington DC to meet with Biden, the House GOP conference, and Senate GOP leaders. While speaking to the House members he said: “I suspect I won’t be running again unless you say, 'He’s so good we’ve got to figure something else out'.”
Like does he think that the 22nd Amendment (limiting presidents to 2 terms) is optional or just a suggestion? Well, frankly he probably does. He has also mentioned "terminating" the Constitution in the past.
Of course Democrats are taking his supposed "joke" seriously. Rep. Dan Goldman plans to introduce a resolution in the House tomorrow expressing support for the 22nd Amendment. The GOP controls the House though so it is unlikely to go anywhere. I mean in NORMAL TIMES *all* US Congress members and Senators wouldn't have a second of hesitation to vote in support of that. These obviously aren't normal times though. The sad thing is that the MAGA cult likes that.
What is the old saying? "When someone shows you who they are, believe them."

I also hope that Trump was merely making a joke. Entering a dictatorial government is challenging because there are no checks and balances in place, and corruption and power abuse are commonplace in such systems. I hope you can continue to maintain the nearly flawless democracy that your nation has already attained in the long run.

@TheHorse It is unfortunate that some wealthy and well-known people are attempting to manage a nation using democracy in their own way. However, your majority has spoken, so we must either put up with another term of his rule in the name of democracy. Let him remain in office for that period of time, and then campaign against him in the next election. Do not forget that democracy still relies on performance.
