Crooked street in California

The image shows how crooked this street is and it is a tourist attraction. They have retained land blocks and that is the reason why this street is so crooked.
We did not take a ride on this street but we were taken there to just have a look. I see no reason why those land blocks are retained. Atleast here in India those would have been bulldozed and a straight street created.

,es, I believe that is Lombard Street. It's the crookedest street in the US and maybe the world

And people do use that street and drive. Have you visited there?
