11/14/24 - Update On My Husband

My husband hasn't called in several days...probably because of thee sundowners. I called the nurses' station around dinner time and asked them to have my husband call me back. He called and said he was eating dinner and would call me back. He never called; and I tried calling him; but there was no answer. This is depressing. At least before I got to speak with him just about every night. We are going to see him on Sunday. The sundowners is not like hospital delirium. It could be a permanent thing. 
My husband is slowly being taken from me.

We should always keep our positive hopes, God will surely make him go home and spent the holiday with you. I am also praying that you will find a good facility for your husband.

Do you know what time of day he is the most lucid? I do know Sundowners can hit as early as 3-4 pm and last for hours. It can be worse on dark and dreary days. Sunlight helps but it’s rather cold to go outside looking for it, and I remember you saying he didn’t want to go outside. I’m so very sorry this is happening.

He was fine when we went to see him which was around 2 pm - 4 pm.

I am afraid depression is starting to sink in and he's trying not to give up. That tends to get people at this age.

@LindaOHio It usually does. depression affects everyone. You more than the rest of his family as you're closest to him, but that's what I think is happening. It started to happen to George when we were nearing the end of his in-patient rehab stay.

I don't like the ratings of the other places. He may have to go back to the previous place.

Unfortunately I'm not getting an answer at the nurses' station. And he doesn't answer the phone when I call.

That is so nerve racking to fear the worst that
your loved 1 is slowly being taken from you
I have thought about this for a long time about
when the time comes mine gets taken.
