I had a scare this morning

When I flipped open my laptop, nothing happened: the screen was black
I thought, "Oh no, not again!"
I really don't want to have to buy a new one. So I pushed buttons and flipped toggles and nothing. Then I thought to check the power bar I had it plugged into.
Somehow, the toggle for the power bar had come off. Putting it back on didn't help any. So I pulled cords and unplugged things and plugged the laptop's power cord directly into the wall outlet.
It worked!
Apparently it'd been running off the battery yesterday, and that had run out of juice. Now, all I have to buy is another power bar, which will be a lot cheaper than a new 'puter.

The things we have to buy to keep up with technology seem endless

That's why I buy mine on HSN or QVC where I can pay payments. I hate pc troubles. Had some just the day. It pooped out on me. But I just turned it off and back on and it did fine. What a relief, huh?

@BarBaraPrz ........I got a new one a little over two years ago. It can't get viruses and is the newest software. I don't trust the cloud either. I have two thumb drives, one for pictures and the other for my writing and such. I am sorry to hear you lost a lot of stuff with your last 'puter. I keep anything of value on my thumb drive.

Thank goodness it was just the power bar and you don't need a new computer.

Yup. And the battery is slowly charging back up.

I accidentally shut a power bar off last month and nearly lost a freezer full of food.

Maybe it thinks it's still getting juice from the power bar?

I too had that experience. I pressed and nothing happened. I had to do it several times and then it started.

Nothing like a computer scare. Glad it wasn’t anything catastrophic!

I always close my laptop at night, so that turns off the power.
