Whether we use electric or regular toothbrushes, toothbrushes are essential part of our oral hygiene. A vast majority of us brush our teeth in morning and health conscious people do it twice or more per day. Dental professional often recommend changing the brush every 3-4 months or when the bristles wear down. It then becomes less effective in removing plaque or bacteria. People with sensitive gums are also recommended to change their toothbrush every 3 months. Again toothbrushes should be replaced in case you have gum issues . Personally , I change my toothbrush every third month. Not sure if my dad suggested me to do so or was it a dental recommendation. However I started that habit on or before my tenth grade. So, how often do you change your toothbrush?

I use both an electric toothbrush and regular toothbrush. The electric usually lasts about 5 months before the bristles wear out. The toothbrush I change every 4 months. The electric brush replacements are kind of expensive the reason I rotate between them.

I just change my toothbrush when it looks like it needs it. I’m not very regimented with stuff like that. But if I feel like I’ve had the current toothbrush long enough, sometimes I’ll disinfect it with peroxide just in case.

Yes, Dentists suggest that one ought to change the Toothbrush every 3 to 4 months. However I think my frequency is 6 to 7 months. I am trying to do it more frequently but well it takes time to change habits!
