Why Are There Less Workers?

There seem to be more and more seniors that need help in their homes, and less people to do the work. A few years ago the industry seem to be booming. I realize that Covid caused a real threat, but it's not that bad now, and there's still a great need for caretakers, but not many are doing this work now. I was juat curios, why do you think it seems like a job in the past that leaves seniors so vulnerable? Have a nice day.

Simple answer- money! While post pandemic , most jobs had salary correction , that never happened for caretakers. Moreover, caretakers have lot of things to take care and time is essence for them. There are times they cannot take leave or enjoy time watching things as they need to monitoring senior citizens. But for efforts and time, caretakers are not given money or recognition they richly deserve. Plus the rise in inflation and the service mentality, these two are also important factors as well. Perhaps if some more benefits and hours are limited , perhaps there could be some more influx of caretakers.Take care!

It is hard work, and they don't get the recognition.

Yeah good explanation. Caretakers deserve better pay, recognition, and work-life balance.

No, they don't pay all that well as most places, and it is hard work.

It's a really challenging job with terrible pay and conditions. A lot don't have a lot of chance to get a decent amount of training. They're often responsible for medication and personal care, they're on their own with vulnerable people. While most people are OK, there are those who are awful towards their care givers yet those care givers still have a duty of care. I could go on but I won't.

Caregiving is hard work. Many folks who could do the job don't want to help with personal tasks, if you know what I mean. When I was caregiving I found it hard to get enough hours for it to be full time and consistently on top of that. At the time I also had my Mom around so I liked juggling small pay balanced with spending time with her.

Yeah it is hard work. I always got stuck with working 7 days. That really sucked.

@popciclecold Back in the day I truly was stuck- no personal phones then- was stuck for 2 or 3 days with a nasty client who verbally abused me. I couldn't tell family I was safe via the phone or I would have lost my job.

I think the same will happen here. Mass deportation will soon take place.

It seems like there's a shortage of help in many areas. Do people not want to work anymore? Have a good weekend.

We have a similar problem.A fee years back there were a lot of workers. All of them villagers. Now their paddy fields are sold to industrialists. Many aluminum plants have popped up almost overnight. The villagers have now started their own business. Now workers are not easily available.
