Whoopi's Just Like Us?

How out of touch can one be as Whoopi Goldberg? She's just like us? She's busting her butt struggling to buy groceries right along with us? Is she serious? You know, sometimes she says some pretty crazy things, but how can she honestly say she understands the financial hardships everyone else has endured this past four years? Her annual salary on The View is $8 million a year and she likely receives substantially more income from her appearances in TV shows, movies and from her comedy albums. Her net worth is approximately $60 million. I think her comment is an insult to intelligent, hard working people, and while she has been in a worse financial position before she became famous, to say now that she has to work to survive is perhaps... Her best joke ever.

That statement is beyond absurd. How can she relate to anyone struggling with paying for groceries? I bet she wouldn't even be able to tell you the price of eggs these days and I also doubt it's been awhile since she's stepped into a supermarket.

That brings another question, doesn't it? When's the last time she cleaned her house or went shopping? I am sure she has people to do that for her.

How could you laugh at this poor woman? I mean, before you know it, we'll see pictures rolling around the Internet of her dumpster diving for her next meal.

The last time I cared about anything Whoopi was doing or saying was when she was on Star Trek. So what...3 decades ago?

@porwest She was good on Star Trek. I know she was in Sister Act, and I think I remember her being decent in that, but its probably been twenty years since I saw that movie last.

@thislittlepennyearns I won't take away from her that she is a good actor. But when it comes to having common sense, she fails miserably.

She was actually an enjoyable character when she played Guinan. Nothing like her true character in real life.

Of all the unintelligent comments made by the hosts of "The View, Whoopi and Joy Behar are the worst. As they say, you can't fix stupid! Those in the entertainment industry have no clue once their financially comfortable what middle and lower-class Americans go through to pay their bills. When you no longer have to worry, you have no clue what it's like...

They are just completely out of touch. Amazing how much relevance they think they have as well, which seemed to sort of fly in their face with this recent election—part of the reason they lost their minds the way they did. It hit them that no one cares what they think.

@grenery8 Not sure how that happened either other than Barbara Walters picked her to be a host and she was one of the originals. Not sure what Walters was thinking at the time.

I liked her as an actress, but when she and other celebrities try to "relate" to regular working class people, it annoys me so much. They make MILLIONS and are incredibly privileged. The have no idea honestly.

I thought this woman, Karen Johnson (her real identity) left the country in 2016? Why is she still in USA! Poor soul, no other country wanted her. Ah, yeah, Karen made $60m whining at the viewless View all those 4 years.

People like that make me really angry. We are bleeding money; and she is saying she understands financial hardships? Have a good weekend.
