Day 2: Unsung Heroes — Who is Someone You Appreciate but Do not Always Acknowledge?

Throughout the moments of our lives, people touch us in so many different and meaningful ways. These people often perform random acts of kindness at the spur of the moment or any chance they get. A kid in your class who lent you a pencil The teacher who paid for your lunch A coworker who gave your car a jump The stranger who pulled over on the highway to change your tire A shopper behind you in line who entertained your fussy infant The neighbor who tended to your elderly mother when she fell A shopper who gave you a cart at Aldi Etc. Who can you think of who did something for you that others may see as so small and trivial, or as common sense or common courtesy, but had a much more profound effect on you than that? I'll start. As you know, I have a guide dog who is two and a half years old and is still learning. Starting life at a breeder in Missouri and spending some time with a foster family, he and his siblings were transferred up here to New York to train to become guide dogs. By then, they were already about two years old (almost too old to be trained). Our first trip outside of our local village was to my dentist. Dr. Lawrence sat on the floor and interacted with Nick before filling my tooth, and his assistant, Norman, was also good with him. The next trip was to my bariatric surgeon's office. He, his nurse, and their receptionist all spent time interacting with Nick before my appointment began. And yesterday, because Nick was so good during brunch at a local cafe, I took him to a local pet supply shop here in the village for whatever struck our fancy, and that proprietor gave my Nick a handful of treats. Of course, I took him off the harness so he could have a break from his duties to spend time with these people. And I bought him Fruitables' pumpkin and cranberry flavored Deliciously Healthy Dog Treats for being so good at the cafe and pet supply store. Business owners who go out of their way to ensure our babies are comfortable in their shops and offices are my pick for people to appreciate today. What say you?

My husband's 2nd cousin has been a Godsend for me. She takes me to all my doctors' appointments and comes over to work on my to-do list. Most of the time she refuses any payment. Have a good weekend.

There are so many people we pass in the street who do so much to make all of our lives better, from the emergency services to little pickers refuse removal. I suppose we do tent to forget the animals that make life better

There's so many, from the person who held the door, stopped for us to walk across the crosswalk or pull into a driveway, slowed down to let us into the lane, etc.

I have a friend in Florida. Even though she lives a state away from me, she is always there to pray with me and listen to me vent. Our lives get so busy, that sometimes I fail to promptly let her know how much I love and appreciate her.

My 2nd cousin in Alabama is like that with me. We're 1,281 miles apart.
