Burger King trying to stay relevant....

Some of you know that I worked at, then managed a Burger King for almost a year. It was....an experience. Not one that I ever hope to repeat. The people were iffy, the management sucked and the stores been in need of a upgrade for at least a decade if not two. So when I was scrolling through news, I saw a story that caught my eye. Burger King has been aggressively trying to stay relevant and keep up with McDonald's or other newer more popular fast food places. They ran a million dollar whopper contest, and have three new flavors of whoppers (which is something we may tackle in a future post). But they have also joined in on the Pickle craze and offer pickle fries. I thought they might just be fries that were pickle flavored but nope. They are actually sliced up pickle spears that have been breaded and fried. They are served with ranch dressing. Because anything fried needs ranch dressing. I do not like pickles, but have been known to eat fried pickles every once in awhile. However, I know how well BK handles things like this and I think I will pass. Will you be trying this new concoction? I guess it's not really new. Fried pickles are not a new thing, but its new for Burger King. {Picture is from Google}

Is this really new, though? They have been serving up fried pickles in the southern part of the Midwest for decades. Granted. Not at Burger King. But fried pickles are nothing new.

I didn't say they were new, lol right in the post. I said they were new to BK. LOL

@porwest IT should be for the fact that they suck. LOL, their breakfasts are okay, and I love the cheesy tots.

@thislittlepennyearns I know. I read your post. I was simply reiterating it's nothing special or new. I mean, if Burger King wants to stand out, it's not going to be for fried pickles. lol

I've never tried fried pickles. They don't really appeal to me. Eateries sometimes have a battle to keep coming up with new and popular dishes.

@thislittlepennyearns Yes, and KFC, Subway. We have Hungry Jacks too but I don't think you have.

@JudyEv Hungry Jacks is a has brown brand here. Could they be the same company? Subway is okay. I wonder what the menu is like there, if it is different than here.

I love pickles, and fried pickles are yummy, but I kind of picture pickle fries from Burger King a pure, bready mess.

I think I have only once eaten at Burger King and that was decades ago. I am not fond of McDonalds or Burger King food.

My oldest daughter loves fried pickles. But she doesn’t like the grease involved, so they make them at home in the air fryer. They are really good.

@thislittlepennyearns Both my daughters have one, as well as my oldest son. I would love one, but where to put it is a problem. My kitchen is small. But air fryers do make some delicious foods!

I used to be a big fan of Burger King but now with my very tight budget I have not been near any fast food places in ages,

I am on a ketogenic diet. Burger King is my favorite burger. I've ordered before and just thrown away the bun. Today I placed an order from Burger King at 1200 West Club Blvd. Durham, NC. I ordered as a keto customer. It took a few minutes, and I was curt with the cashier. She was quite nice. I sorry. I was very happy when I arrived home. My three burgers sat on a huge salad tray. Spaced to save cheese. There were tomatoes, pickles, onion rings, and lettuce on top. The bag contained forks and knives. I was offered condiments. Even if I had forgotten a bun, I would have been pleased.
