I found a James Bond movie I hadn't seen on YouTube a while back. It had Sean Connery and Gina Lollobrigida in it. It was not as well done or as fantastic as the more recent Bond movies have been. It was more like a melodrama and not well-acted at all. I went on afterward and found a documentary about the actors who had turned down the James Bond role. I am listing them below and the reason they turned down if given:
Peter Lawford
Richard Burton, He was too old by then. He was asked three times and was in his late 50s by then.
Cary Grant, He was 58
James Mason
Patrick McGeehan He didn't want to do it. Too much promiscuity.
Rod Taylor Too beneath him to do such a character.
Lord Lucan Too beneath him.
Adam West He was doing Batman by then.
Clint Eastwood, He felt the actor should be British.
Michael Gaydon
Burt Reynolds, He felt the actor should be British.
Jon Finch Just wasn't interested.
Liam Neilson Didn't want to do an action film.
Dominic West
Christian Bale

He could have. I don't think he had it in him. No suave finesse that Bond needed.

@grenery8 ........I disagree. That poshness has made him a very interesting character.

@celticeagle well, yes but bond sometimes seems too posh. he needs to be portrayed more human. maybe one day.

I do like these Bond films. My grandson has gotten to watch several Marvel movies and I do enjoy them.

That is so true. It was early on but still I would expect more.

I wonder if they regretted their decisions? Have a good weekend.

Not much. I think the studio made the right decisions on the ones they chose. I am a person who is loyal to the original of something. I'm not interested much in redoing a character or changing things.
