For Thanksgiving we used to have a ham and turkey. I would fix mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, green beans, I would have some fruits such as mandarin oranges, pineapple chunks, rolls, carrot and celery strips, radishes and black olives. Later we would have the choice of pies. Chocolate pudding pie, cherry, apple or pumpkin. Now that it is just my husband and me. We have whatever we want. This year we are having a roast with everything and some pies.

Sounds similar to what we'd have...although we'd have usually just turkey and save ham for Easter. Chocolate pie sounds great.

@MommyOfEli2013 It all depends on the cost of everything what we buy.

Years ago my husband loved to roast a big turkey. This time around we're making smoked salmon chowder. I've made one pumpkin and one yam pie already so not sure about what else.

Smoked salmon chowder sounds so good. My husband loves pumpkin pie so I have to make that for him.

@jstory07 Yes make that pumpkin pie. Like I said, we've had that already. I don't put milk in the pie filling. Just dates for sweetener, eggs, spices and a little water if the slurry is too thick. Tastes good.
