Chronic digestive issues can cause depression

I would rather starve than eat and feel pain. Lately, I had a lot of digestive problems. I have IBS. It's a very painful condition. Today I had a smoothie and I had severe pain. I went to the doctor. He said that no medication can make me eat again what I can't eat now. I am underweight and very anxious. My body needs nutrients. Doctors couldn't help me and I went to a lot of doctors. They need to do more blood tests and they are very expensive. I don't know what to do. I can't eat even the fruits I was allowed to eat. I can eat only a few boiled vegetables and panic attacks make me exhausted. I can eat meat, but meat doesn't have all the nutrients. I started to wake up again with panic attacks. My body is weak. And my depression is worse because I see how people enjoy so many types of food. And I can only watch them eat. My family cooks foods I can't eat. If I eat and taste them I have severe pain. I don't have the energy to function and work. I feel tired. I took vitamins every day, but they didn't work.

Your digestive issues aren't causing your depression. although, they can be a sorce of frustration. It can be frusterating figuring out what you can and can't eat. But, it's not necessarly causing your depression and anxiety. Those apparently existed long before. Sounds like not knowing what you can and can't eat, is a trigger for anxiety. Instead of wollowing in it. Do your own research. try different foods with an open mind. And learn more about IBS. The more control you take, the less anxious you'll feel over time.

My life is too restricted. Some people can find joy in food, in movies, in a walk. But I can't enjoy nature or walks. I used to enjoy sweets and now I can't eat even those.

I also have chronic digestive issues. I take digestive enzymes. I eat a lot of fish which is easy to digest.

Oh it is not a good condition. Alternate medicines can help but not sure if they are available around you. You can try light food like Boiled Bottle Gourd, Plain rice with boiled gravy. Are you able to consume Banana regularly?

My hubby had severe digestive issues a couple of years ago. He hated the protein shakes but drank some anyway cause at least he got in some calories and fake vitamins. Have you talked with a nutritionist? You need high calorie food if you eat very little.
