No wonder my asthma has been so rough

I have asthma but it usually doesn't give me much trouble. There certainly are days when I am struggling and have to use my inhaler several times but then I could go for weeks without touching it. Over the weekend I noticed that I was having difficulty breathing. I used the inhaler multiple times but it didn't seem to improve. In fact today at work I was really having a hard time. When I got back here I took 2 puffs and there was zero improvement. I did 2 more and still nothing. Then I decided to check it--I pressed the button to dispense a dose and literally nothing came out of the inhaler. It wasn't empty but it was getting close to that time. These inhalers have a bad tendency of crapping out like that before they are finished. Luckily I had another one in the cabinet. I used that was still struggling so I busted out my nebulizer and did a treatment. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Relief. I can breathe again! Having a nebulizer is such a game changer. Years ago I would argue with the pulmonologist to try to get one but he said that they were only for babies and young children who can't use inhalers. I was like "really? Then why do they give me breathing treatments with one when I am in the ER?" So my regular doctor wrote me a script for one and it really is great having it on hand for situations like this. 20+ years ago I would have had to go to the hospital for a treatment and some prednisone. These days I could go to my employer's health clinic but I don't have to since I can use the nebulizer that I have here.

My husband has a nebulizer; and they are giving him breathing treatments in the rehab facility. I"m glad you have a nebulizer at home. Have a good day.

Does your inhaler have a counter on it? My Dulera has always had it, but I noticed that the albuterol inhaler has a dosage counter on it.
