How Did I Forget THIS Stop???

One of the places I stopped on the way home from that mesmerizing trip to Tower Rock Natural Area was the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. I guess I forgot to post a discussion about it because I was so overwhelmed about walking out into the Mississippi River.
About 99.9999% of it is in Kentucky, and it was on the way, so why not!? It’s a beautiful area, even more so when it’s autumn.
There are two dammed (read that carefully ) rivers, the Cumberland and the Tennessee, which create Lake Barkley (the eastern lake) and Kentucky Lake (the western one), respectively. The peninsula between the two is supposedly the largest “landlocked” or inland one in America.
Oh, did I mention how beautiful it is in the autumn? See the photo. I could post a hundred of them, but you get the idea.
One of the major attractions in the area is, believe it or not, bison. Yes, you read that correctly. I didn’t see any on this trip (didn’t see any the last time I was there, either), but I’ve seen enough videos and photos to know they really are there.
I was driving home this afternoon, noticing that the trees are getting very bare. That means the beautiful part of fall is over for another year. But it’ll be back…and until then, I have some great photos!

Lovely photos. We got to see bison on our trip to Kentucky. I think it was Big Bone Lick State Park. Have a good day.

@FourWalls The bison came right up to the fence for us. We got some cool pix. They went away before the next group of tourists came. Hubby said they came just for me! lololol

That’s the second time I’ve been there, and it’s so beautiful.

Thank you! I’ve never visited Switzerland, though, and the photos and videos show me that it’s VERY beautiful…so I don’t get to all of them.

@FourWalls Switzerland is really a beautiful country. We had much better colors last year for autumn leaves. This year it rained too much.

Bare trees are more preferable when Fleetwood Mac sings about them.

Glad you enjoyed them. You have so many different and beautiful horses from the endurance rides, you could probably post 20 and just scratch the surface!

@FourWalls Yes, that's true. There are thousands of photos. One rider wanted me to choose ten photos but she rode in a total of about 34 rides over five years and had multiple photos from each ride. I thought about it but then said it would be too much work.

Oh yes I've stopped there before and seen the bison as well. My trees are getting bare as well.

They called those windy days “leaf strippers” and they were correct.
