What do you put on a baked potato?

I was still hungry after eating dinner, so I threw a baked potato in the microwave and then added some toppings. I have been known to make some pretty wild baked potato creations but tonight it was simple. Butter, garlic and herb seasoning mixture, sour cream, cheese and a dash of Wash-your-sister-sauce. That got me thinking. There's endless combos of what you would put on your baked potato, and I got curious. So tell me myLot, what is your favorite or go to baked potato topping?

Sour cream or ranch dressing. In the BBQ restaurant, cheese and chicken.

@thislittlepennyearns — I’ll even use BBQ sauce. Why not, people eat BBQ potato chips!

@FourWalls I do that too. What BBQ sauce do you like? Do they sell sweet baby Ray's up there?

Mine are fairly ordinary: butter, sour cream, bacon, and cheese.

I thought about bacon, but I had already had bacon today.

The better question is what do I, or what won't I put on a baked potato. I love all kinds of things on one. Sour cream, butter, bacon bits or real bacon. Hamburger. Manwich meat. Cheese. Onions. You name it. I love pretty much anything on a baked potato.

Bacon bits are an abomination.

@thislittlepennyearns Nah. Nice in a pinch. I don't cook bacon often enough to have fresh ones and I love bacon bits in a salad which we eat very often.

For baked potatoes, I like toppings with cheese and corned beef... After finishing it, my stomach felt more comfortable

Corned beef? On a tater. I guess it makes sense because corned beef and hash.

I only ever have them stuffed if we're out. Otherwise they're just an accompaniment to a roast of some sort.

Just depends....but usually sour cream and cheese. We have a place in the mall that has specialty baked potatoes and they make a really good one with bbq sauce, chicken and cheese - so that is a good choice.

My family loves twice baked potatoes so I do make those for them. They are also handy to prepare and freeze, and take out what amounts I need when we want them. I have been known to doctor up a baked potato, using things like chicken or turkey taco meat. Diced ham and sharp cheddar, shredded chicken or turkey with grilled onions and Swiss cheese… a baked potato is a blank slate, and it’s fun to use different toppings for them.

I agree with sour cream and salty cheese. I would also put some baked ham over it and that's it. Another good idea would be mayonnaise: )
