Have you ever found yourself stuck?
You want to move forward, but you keep ending up in the same place.
Have you ever been desperate for God's forgiveness and grace?
You want to live for the Lord, but you want what you want as well.
I think we have all been there. When we read Scripture, we find out that God's people found themselves in these same predicaments and it was only when they fully repented and turned to God that their situation changed.
I am currently reading the book of Deuteronomy, and find that Israel was on a spiritual roller coaster. They always brought destruction on themselves by complaining or disobedience or idol worship. We are no different. We have our own idols (television, celebrities, money, friendships, etc.) We are disobedient, and we think we are ok because we are not as bad as others.
" Israel’s rebellion at Mount Sinai with the golden calf was significant; it was no small matter. Yet God did not end His covenant with Israel or His relationship with them. After they came back to His word and came through His priesthood, it was time to move forward. God had a place to take them, and they had to begin the journey." ~David Guzik
It is the same for us today. We beg for God's blessings. We embrace His forgiveness and healing. But then we want to keep flirting with sin and associating with the wicked. God does heal, restore, and bless. But it has to be His way, not ours. And our way combined with His way is still our way. God wants to move us forward, but He must be leading and our sites set only on Him. The Lord never changes. We can trust Him, but we have to listen and obey.
