My 100 Favorite Charted Pop Songs: Teacher, Teacher

It was 61 years ago today that President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. I was all of three, so don’t ask what I remember. The answer is probably cloth diapers. I remember this, though, a great song that I think enough of to put on my 100 favorite charted songs list. Teacher, Teacher - Rockpile Put Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe together and you have a supergroup. The rest of the world might not see it that way, but I sure did. Alas, this was the only album they “officially” made together as Rockpile (although they were all over each other’s records in one capacity or another). Two great singers, two great songwriters….and neither of them wrote this. That’s okay, they made it their own. Normally I’d appreciate the “anti-video” video they made for the song, but Dave Edmunds is so dang cute that I want him in focus!! This song came out a few years too early to be successful as “retro” or “power pop” (as so many great songs in that era did), so it tanked. But it has a fond place in my musical heart.
