New Guest at Meal Times

I have been feeding a few cats, who live in the garden, for some time. Recently I have noticed that the dishes are clean when I gather them up, this wasn’t the case before, Found out what was happening. An urban fox has gotten used to moggie meal times and he comes along to finish off the food. These foxes are getting quite bold and I spotted this one round the side of the flats. He was waiting for the cats to finish and then he could move in.

he's so cute and at least he's polite - he waits for them to finish and then he eats what's left. i hope you got some extra food you can bring there, now that there's a fox to feed too my parents-in-law live in a house near woods and the foxes aren't afraid to come nearby. luckily they're not attacking their cats and kittens, but it's so weird that they can't shoo them away. i feel sorry for these things...

Urban foxes are excellent scavengers. I have lots of cat food ready, I keep hoping the hedgehogs will return as well.

What a lovely photo of the dish cleaner . I'm surprised what manners it has to wait for the cats to finish first!

@Ronrybs Nature is often good about that - wish more humans could be like that .

He is outnumbered by the moggies, but they all seem to get along well. No one bothers anyone else.

Friend feeds stray cats, and raccoons do the same in his area.

I guess raccoons are just as just as big opportunists as Foxes... and cats, now I think about it

That is one cute fox, I am glad he gets some food too, I have a possum that comes to eat leftovers every night and if he leaves something behind one or the other of the downstairs cats come to lick the pan clean,

He is a handsome fellow. My friend in LA has a possum who visits regularly as well as some cats

It's good he waits till the cats finish. We watched a quenda (little hoppy thing) come onto BIL's patio and scout around for crumbs, etc. That's a good shot you captured.

@Ronrybs If you wanted to persevere, you'd probably having him eating out of your hand eventually - literally. But if you go down that path, watch he doesn't bite the hand that feeds him.

@JudyEv Probably best he doesn't get used to humans. Those two legs are a fickle bunch

They are quite bold and let you get fairly close. I guess he doesn't want to get to far away from the food!

Interesting since there are two dogs that do come and eat the meals for the cats that my relatives feed them for dinner.

@Ronrybs Good question if dogs do not pass gas after eating cat food or not.

I've read that dogs really like cat food and it stops them farting. Don't know how true that is!

He is usually outnumbered by cats. From what I've read, foxes and cats tend to ignore each other
