This story was long and drawn out. Very slow for me. And with the longer chapters it took me longer to read. But in general, it was a good story about a woman who inherited (though not directly) her mother's bookshop when she died in a plane crash. The store was actually owned by her grandfather. It was in the home where he grew up. The story consists of Natalie learning the history of her grandfather's family. He was unwilling to give up the crumbling building despite the debt Natalie's mother had incurred in her attempts to run it. So there is Natalie's history: a boyfriend who died in the same plane crash whom she was considering breaking up with, her mother's history, her grandfather's history, the history of the bookshop and apartments therein. And also Natalie dealing with the grief of losing her mother and her ex-boyfriend. Also included in the story is a bit of a love triangle. It's a sweet romance (no steam here), but two suitors (one being a famous children's author, the other being the gentleman her mother had hired to repair the building) for Natalie who had never wanted a relationship to begin with. But her ailing grandfather wanted her to be happy. So there was a lot going on in this book. It had a very slow start and so many stories within the story. The historical part of the story was quite interesting, but it took a long time to get there. But it was nice to not just focus on the possible romances. A book I would recommend. For those who are counting (or care), this was pick number three from my Movie Musicals Prompt Jar. The song was Something Good from The Sound of Music with the prompt being a book about books, bookstores or a library. Because... BOOKS ARE GOOD.

books are good and almost always better than movie version or something similar. you are right, too many story lines within one book. i am glad it didn't end as simply romantic story. i like romance but book can be read even without it thank you for the review

Yes, it may have started slow but it picked up. I am way behind on reviews (I have 3 books read waiting for me to review). I'm trying to exceed my year end goal of books read. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Yes, books are good and Susan is a good writer. I have several books about bookstores or bookclubs and this title sounds familiar but I'm not sure if I've read it. And I'm not home right now to check my bookshelves to see if I have it.

Using this prompt I went searching for books on books, basically. I found several, and even found 3 more after I chose this one as I was filming this for Instagram so I couldn't change my mind. I might have otherwise just because it was over 400 pages and I'm trying to read as many books as possible as the year winds down.

I finished a book about a bookstore just a while ago. Some stories can be very slow to get going.

This book was more than just a romance. There was the family history that they were digging up, which was interesting. This book was over 400 pages. After doing my Movie Musicals pick I found 3 more books on bookstores/library but since I recorded my pick for Instagram I had to stick with what I picked. I would have picked a shorter book. Readers love books about books, bookstores, libraries, writers, etc.
