Dumbest thing I've absolutely ever heard of

Have you seen the so called art piece by Maurizio Cattelan which was an actual banana duct taped to a wall?
First of all it looked stupid. But some idiot paid $6.2 million dollars for it at a Southeby's auction in New York City. He said he was going to eat it before it rotted.
Just goes to show some people have more money than sense.

Theperson who thought it was a good idea to tape a banana to a wall and call it art is just as dumb.

Absolutely it's a shame they cannot share their money with those who need it instead of throwing it away,

At the same time, giving people money thinking it will solve someone's money problems is also throwing money away. Money is never the reason people don't have it. Just my two cents worth. Look at food pantries. Do they ever solve hunger or the need to give food away, or do they just keep people hungry? If the same guy comes in for 10 years each week for a loaf of bread, you're not helping him. You are enabling him.
If you really want to help people, you do it by teaching them how to get what they need on their own, not simply giving them what they need.

This kind of thing never ceases to amaze me. It's beyond stupid, but here we are talking about it, someone wrote a check for this, and someone is taking that check to the bank. Makes me question any real talent I have and why it doesn't reap the same rewards as something that took none.

It can make you wonder. But I'd rather earn money than see it used for something so stupid.

@porwest Yeah, wealth doesn't always equate to common sense.

@1creekgirl I can only imagine the person who paid for this had WAY more money than they could ever spend. A smart rich man would never have paid for something like this.

Now I've read that the dumb rich guy is going to buy all the bananas from the man he bought the first one from. I doubt he'll pay much, though.

That kind of money could have done so much good. What a waste. Have a wonderful weekend.

I thought about that, too, Linda. So many people could have been fed with two million dollars.

I heard about it while watching Pat Gray Unleashed. They were mocking the "art" piece by having a tangerine ducted taped to their wall. I can't believe anyone considers a banana on a wall art. I am shocked, even more, that anyone would pay a dollar, much less 6 million, for that kind of crap. They know it is not art; they are just trying to be eccentric. for attention.

Given the times I've been told that a mere $20 was overpriced for my art, seeing stuff like this (where people pay millions for nonsense) kind of boils my blood.

I get it. Your art is beauty, not a stupid banana.
