Using up some wool

From time to time over the years, I’ve been crocheting beanies for premature babies. I give them to my sister-in-law who gives them to a friend who takes them to the hospital. I have about six balls of baby wool that I’d got from an op shop (thrift store) and I was starting on more beanies when I got a message saying they had more than enough beanies and thank you, but don’t sent any more. I decided to use the wool to make a baby’s shawl. It’s a bit smaller than some shawls but still big enough to be useful. I judged the size very well as I had to unpick one beanie to get enough wool to finish the shawl. It’s a pretty colour but being blue, I guess it’s only really suitable for a boy. I particularly like the edging.

You're sweet to donate those beanies. I have tried many times to get the hang of crocheting. Tonight I studied how to make a slip knot on You Tube.

There is so much help on YouTube but sometimes it's hard to get the hang of things.

I had x amount of wool and had to try to work out when to stop the 'middle' and have enough wool left for the edging.

They are easy for me to do. I can do them watching TV or just filling in a bit of time somewhere.

It really looks lovely, you are very good at crocheting. I wish that I had taken this up, but I seem to be all thumbs when I have a crochet hook in hand.

That's good that the hospital had enough beanies. It's also good that you found something new to make.
