Matar dal in bengal is cooked with radish and potato. Matar dal is one of the popular lentils in bengal. Radish is red in colour in bengal. It is cooked with red radish called lal mulo in bengali. In hindi it is called muli. The potato and the radish makes the dish complete. It can be eaten both rice and chapati.

thanks Aparna Sen here in Calcutta the radish is available till middle january after sankranti they are not eaten
