Nico has been driving me insane

The fountain I bought for him, he was drinking out of for awhile, then decided it didn't suit him so we switched to a steel bowl. That was fine for awhile, but he no longer wanted it, even after being sanitized and so forth. So then we went to plastic bowls. Same thing..uses for a few weeks no longer wants. Not only that he spills the water on the floor on purpose. Even when I give him a brand new completely clean bowl..he doesn't want it. Of course he wants to drink out of the sink, which I don't like because it isn't necessary with all these bowls. Besides I can't monitor his water intake, which he is prone to stones, so it is kind of important. He just took a few sips out of a new water supply. I think I will plug in the fountain again, and see if that is acceptable now. I have never had a cat who was demanding like this one is. The others were all pretty chill. Any ideas? He doesn't like something about the bowlsor the water. I have used water in a jug before he seems to like that a bit better.

I feel for you. He sounds like he is related to our cat Baby. We have food and water issues. I think it’s age related.

Nico is only 6 though. He isn't an elderly cat, and as a matter of fact runs around like a kitten and takes a keen interest in life.

@snowy22315 Baby didn’t get funny with her food and water until a few years back. She will be 19 in May.

Is there something you can put in the water to make it more palatable? They add molasses to horses' water sometimes to either disguise the taste of water they're not used to or to encourage them to drink.

Perhaps, but cats don't like sweet. I have tried hydration packets. He doesn't seem to be a big fan, but I could try them again.

He is spoiled rotten, and thinks he is a prince. He also is just temperamental. They say one cat personality is cantankerous, and though he can be sweet and lovey when he wants, that is him in a nutshell..very high strung.

Cats can be so finicky. Good luck with the water issue. We've always had dogs. Have a good day.

He is rarely satisfied with anything, unless it is some kind of delicious food.
