You have to remember she was all of 19 when she recorded her signature song, “Music! Music! Music!” She came along at the right time. Ten years later and no one probably would have heard of her. You can see by her success: it quickly faded as rock and roll came into prominence. She had a bit to do with the advent of rock and roll (listen to a song like “Music! Music! Music!” for example, or “Ricochet”…those have a little more “oomph” than the standard pop song of the day), but was never really credited. Her popularity among her fans, however, never waned. She only stopped performing when progressive supranuclear palsy forced her to quit. It took her life at the age of 76. DANG, this woman could sing.
