Decking the Halls

Today has been more of a productive day than I expected it to be. I hauled out the little trees that I have and put that grouping out. Shortly after that I put the Santa and snowman collection out on the buffet. That really makes it feel like Christmas. I got the wreath on the door. I have a few other things here and there. This afternoon we moved some of the furniture around and my husband put the Christmas tree up. It is a pre-lit tree, so all we have to do is plug it in. It is all lit up and the angel is sitting on the top. We still have to fluff out the branches, then I will put the beads on the branches that I like. After that I will have Harper and Willow, decorate as far as they can reach. Have you decked your halls yet? ~Photo is mine

I don't know if we will thi year. Normally, George would've had something out for Thanksgiving. I still have our punkin lamps out from last year, because I don't want to dig them out.

Since our Thanksgiving and the nicer part of the autumn season is over in early November, I take down our autumn decorations before Remembrance Day. I leave everything bare for a bit and now most of the decorations are up.

Having little ones at Christmas is always fun and special. I bought a strand of very silly plastic red hatted snowmen lights the other day. My Thanksgiving isn't going to happen for a couple of days but I'm thinking about putting up a little fake tree on Monday.

@sallypup I have always loved snowmen decorations. I remember my Dad's last Christmas (2008) I picked up 3 really small snowmen candle decorations. I showed them to him and reminded him of when he used to help us make snowmen when we (my brothers and I) were young, and he asked me to leave them there for him. They sat on the window ledge of his hospital room. They seemed to give him hope.

@Juliaacv The snowmen lights are adorable. The light bulb glow of their smiling faces is super cute.

No, we are still focused on Thanksgiving here. I hope I can find the battery operated lights that I put on the outdoor trees last year.

Will you shift gears from Thanksgiving to Christmas over the same weekend? The holidays would be better enjoyed if they were spaced out just a couple of weeks so that everyone could recover from one before immersing themselves into the next.

The twins will love decorating. We will probably wait for December before we put anything up.

I could have waited until next week, only because I'd like to see the girls decorate the tree and I am off from work, but before I started taking this week off in the end of November, we always put our tree up in early December.

My relatives have placed a small Christmas tree that is mounted on a small table and made out of rubber for the decoration inside of the home.

That sounds really neat, I've never seen a rubber Christmas tree.

I bet it looks so good! This year, I’ll likely put my wreath up, but that’s probably it.

I remember as a child I loved seeing the wreathes that my mother would hang in the dining room windows. They were my favorite decoration. We bought this tree 7 years ago, and honestly, it looks its age. I have convinced myself to look for a slightly smaller replacement tree when they go on sale. I can keep it in the box and when it is time to take this one down I will donate it. We like the pre-lit trees, but with the warm white lights, not the blue coloured white ones or the multi-coloured ones.

No decking here but I am planning to get a new artificial Christmas tree and see how the cats like it,

Our tree doesn't look as great as it could. I think that I'll be shopping for a new one this year, now that it is up I am thinking it has to go after this year.

I look forward to a post showing what they look like. I do not recall them from years gone by.
