Floored Again by Eggs

I damn near flipped my lid when I went to Aldi today for a few items that were on my list that I typically get there. I walked past the egg section and saw that they had eggs priced at $3.57 a dozen.
Umm. No thanks. "Limit 2," the sign said. Like there are idiots in the world who would have filled their carts ridiculously with that price.
They are out of their minds.
I will be making a run to Ruler tomorrow and the last time I was there their eggs were $1.99 a dozen. I am going to be really curious to see what they want for theirs.
Eggs have been a nightmare for at least the last year and a half with massively fluctuating prices and I wish they'd just settle out a bit and get back to being reasonable. So long as they are expensive they won't go in my cart.
At this point I'd pay $1.99 but I am not getting anywhere near $3.57.

I do not blame you for not buying eggs at the price of $3.57.

You comment makes NO sense. Trump has not been the president for the past four years in case you wanted to know, and when Trump was in office I paid 69 cents a dozen. You drinking?
Your comment about produce makes no sense either. You have forgotten that before Trump, securing the border was an issue YOUR side took up. In fact, your side accused the right of being for open borders for cheap labor.
Your side doesn't have a stance on anything. And now you are using YOUR old argument to make a new one? Again, none of this makes any sense.
Former President Obama also deported MORE illegals than ANY president in history. Yeah...you're drinking.

$1.99 is a good price. My husband's 2nd cousin just paid around $4 I think. She held off for as long as she could. She wants scrambled eggs so badly for her and her dog! lololol Have a good day.

Whatever happened to 88 cents per dozen like a couple of years ago? Oh, they're building a new ALDI about 2 miles from me. I might try it.

Yep. My thoughts exactly. I was paying anywhere between 69 cents to 99 cents per dozen just a couple of years ago. Eggs have been outrageous for a very long time. We went to the new Aldi in town that just opened up about four or five months ago. It's just a bit closer to the other one we used to go to.

A while back I had heard from myLot folks that Aldi had the cheapest egg prices (before there was ever an Aldi's here). So when Aldi's finally came here, it was not as cheap as other US areas, but it was something like $1.25 - $1.50. Unheard of price for eggs. But in the past couple years, our Aldi egg prices have actually been higher than other stores - even Trader Joe's or Costco's is cheaper. I won't scream yet - I need my eggs - I am feeling fortunate buying them is still "doable".

It seems inflation remains sticky doesn't it. It may take some time for it to return to more reasonable prices. And we may never see those prices return to pre-covid levels.

Well, it’s Thanksgiving. It’s rather difficult to make some things without eggs. I don’t use as many as I used to, but I do use them. As you know, I barter for my eggs. But a person can put it in perspective that eggs are a good protein source. It is my understanding that they will not be going down in price anytime soon. Especially not before a holiday. If you find a bargain, get enough for a month so you can have them for Christmas.

$3.57 a dozen is the average price here. I found a store which sells $2.00 for ten. That's the cheapest. But they do not always have stock.
