”What do you have planned today?” It’s a common question. What you have planned and what actually happens are two different things. Trust me, I didn’t have “ER visit” on my bingo card for today. November is usually a bad month for me. Yesterday (11/22) was the 17th anniversary of my mom suffering a brain aneurysm that would lead to her passing in early December. While it’s been better in recent years, sometimes I’ve gone the entire month with the “blahs” (blues, whatever). Well, yesterday came and went, and I was more focused on posting my photos from the Sixth Floor Museum in commemoration of the 61st anniversary of JFK’s assassination. To add to that, I’ve been eating something new: tomatillo sauce. Today my throat felt like it was closed up, I had chest pains, and a headache. Off to the hospital I went. I make a lot of gripes about the VA occasionally, but I’ll tell you this: when the chips are down, they are ON. THE. BALL. Within five minutes I was hooked up to an EKG machine, and they told me that it showed no evidence of a heart attack. They did all the tests that they normally do (the blood work, looking for particular enzymes that will show up if there has been a heart attack, and repeat procedures). In by 1:15, out by 4:15. No heart problems, no breathing problems, and no covid. (I don’t have any covid tests as home right now, so I asked them to do me the favor, which they did.) I still have the pain, which they think is from the reflux caused by the tomatillo sauce (it figures…that stuff is so good, and now that I’m addicted to it I have to stop eating it to see if my problem goes away!), but the emotional relief is wonderful. Oh, and a big, BIG THANK YOU to you who’ve PM’d me to ask. Y’all are so sweet, and I love you all! The photo is a ferret that was at a local pet supply store. Because of my travels I’d never consider getting a pet; however, if I ever had a ferret it would have to be named “Frank Burns,” after the character from M*A*S*H who was nicknamed “Ferret Face.” Y’all have a good evening!

No one plans a trip to the hospital. Perhaps yu had a bad reaction to something in it and over did it?

@FourWalls Good idea. You don't know what in it caused the reaction.

Oh my gosh, Four Walls . . . thank goodness you were ok but I imagine that it was scary to have that kind of pain. Hopefully it completely goes away soon, as it leaves from your system. I think tomatillos are considered to be night shade - reflux/allergy/inflammation, whatever it was. Ferret Face .

It’s really nothing new. I have these all the time (it’s what had me in the emergency room in Illinois earlier this year). You’d think I’d get used to them, but no…. Yeah, Ferret Face.

I am sorry that you took ill so suddenly, but thankful for the great care you received at the hospital. We had a friend who used to raise ferrets, and bred them, they are a stinky animal, his wife was so relieved when he got out of that.

I feed the neighborhood cats, that’s enough for me.

I am glad you were proactive and went to the ER, that's always the best course to take with chest pains! And very glad to hear you are OK. Ease up on the tomatillo sauce, dear. Maybe for a few days opt for some boring, bland, midwestern food, and settle things down.

Dang, girlfriend, I can’t eat there next weekend because it’s right next to a mall and there’ll be no getting NEAR a mall after Thanksgiving!! My brother suggested asking them for a “personal EKG.” He has panic attacks, too, and he said that having the at-home EKG device greatly calms the panic attack when you see that your heart isn’t having problems. If not, they sell ‘em on Amazon.
