Some more facts I thought were interesting:
* The Turducken began in New Orleans. It is a deboned chicken placed inside a deboned duck, placed inside a turkey. Chef Paul Prudhomme is believed to have invented and served the dish at his New Orleans restaurant, K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen.
* A town once postponed Thanksgiving because of pumpkin pie. In 1705, the townspeople of Colchester, Connecticut, were so dedicated to pumpkin pie that they elected to postpone the holiday because foul weather had interfered with their molasses shipment. Without molasses, they couldn’t make pumpkin pie, and without pumpkin pie, Thanksgiving just wouldn’t be the same.
* The Butterball Hotline answers over 100,000 calls each year.
* Black Friday is a busy day for plumbers. It is said that so many people clog their sinks and garbage disposals that the day after Thanksgiving it makes the day the busiest of the year for plumbers.
* In 1953 Swanson didn't sell as many turkeys as expected. Inspired by the meals served on trays on airplanes Swanson used the 260 tons of turkey to make the world's first TV dinners and sold them for 96 cents each.

I haven't either. I'm not one who likes duck to eat.
