The Lifesaver I Never Thought I'd Use

Five years ago I wouldn't have thought I would ever get a cell phone. I was stuck in my landline ways. Always the traditionalist, change scares the bejesus out of me. But, I was watching HSN one night and the host was discussing Tracfone and their deals on cell phones. The deal was just too good to pass up. I called in and asked some questions. They were so nice and gave me all the information I needed. So, I made the decision and bought our first pair of cell phones. The first ones were Motorola and they were great. You really can't beat full coverage with all the bells and whistles. No monthly payments. And HSN added some programs for 3 months or other things that were fun to check out.
I have now had cell phone usage for about 3-4 years now. I've gotten Samsung the last couple of times. But I have full data, phone, and text for $100 a year and it is great service. My grandson hooked it all up and I don't even have to talk to CS. I am basically paying about $8.33 a month.
The one great feature(out of many) is the alarm. My memory was never the greatest and it isn't getting any better with age. I can set alarms for anything I need to remember. It is great! Just one of many of the perks of having a cell phone. Not bad, huh?

Straight Talk is a little better than TracFone, better service than Verizon, ATT and Tmobile and fairly cheap.

@thislittlepennyearns We need ones that work in Verizon areas. ATT service isn't good here. I have thought about consumer cellular but they don't have hotspot allowed.

@wolfgirl569 straight talk works off Verizon towers in places and hotspot is included.

I finally got a cell phone for my 70th birthday (or was it 71st?). It's just a basic flip phone, no data. It's all I need as no one calls me anyway, just Juanita, and I have a camera to take photos and my laptop to get on the 'net.

They are so convenient. I don't know what I did before I had one. Just like with my laptop.

I never wanted a mobile phone and still don't but you can't fight progress all the time. Certainly they are handy for some things.
