We went and got a toy and some clothes for my great grand son. On the way home this man was holding a sign that said "Store closing. Big Lots. Everything 25% off."
I had already wore my husband out. So we will go back on Monday.
Last night we were just talking about Big Lots since they never had any business or cars in the parking lot. Than today we saw the man with the sign.
I wonder how many more businesses are going under.
The picture is of the river it is really high now.

Honestly, with their prices sometimes being more expensive than every other store, it isn’t surprising.

I haven't bought anything at Big Lots for a long time. The last time I was in one, their prices were the same as everywhere else, so no point in buying. Ollie's Outlet is really good though.Same principle as Big Lots, they buy close outs. Go to it though, if one shows up in your area

World is changing, cannot say its for the good, but like to think its also not for the bad. They have not been doing good here for years. People said just not very good employers, and customers say all kinds of things to get people in trouble.
I always go by people who work at places that are not management. Most working people pretty accurate if they good workers and nothing is in it for them to disparage a place other than they want a better world for their kids.

@jstory07 I bet, thats the conundrum of most of US now. Management gets treated like kings but true working employees who make everything go and work and working customers of US get treated like crap. Money is more important than people. and why I think Big Lots will probably go under everywhere.

@crossbones27 I have enjoyed this little town that we moved to a couple of years ago because it has small businesses to buy from. The prices are often higher than Walmart but I often speak with the owner of the shop when I buy things. I also like buying food from local people. Its just a wonderful old fashioned way to shop.

I'll have to see if our local one has that sign. I remember before when they used to be Pic N Save . . . their prices were very cheap . . . but Big Lots didn't seem to be a huge money saver. I haven't gone there too often - and if I did I'd leave without buying.

We don't have that chain here in Canada.
It is difficult for stores to stay open as alot of people shop online, and if an order doesn't allow for shipping to the store, there isn't the traffic that could lead to other purchases.
I feel for the employees in cases like that.

Yes I always feel sorry for the employees they have families to take care of.

Yes they are. When prices go up people only buy what they need from a cheaper place with lower prices.

That's a shame the store is closing. What sort of items do Big Lots sell? We don't have them here.

I read this news on internet,a bit shocked.Big Lots was a giant.Hard to believe it went bankrupt.Assume they reduce price of goods, maybe don't have to close.

Used to shop at Big Lots years ago when they first opened. Found a lot of good deals. And they have unusual food items...especially chips and candy. Bought my deep Red Chef square skillet. Love it, I can bake or fry in it and only paid $25 had a steel riser to put in the bottom to keep meat up off the bottom. Haven't been in there in a few months, will have to check and see if they are going out of business here.
