She was a friend from about 8th grade until we were maybe 28. However, she was a delinquent when we were young and used to do stuff like steal napkin dispensers off of tables at restaurants.I think she got caught once, but it didn't steer her straight. I also didn't like the way she treated her kids. Plus she was a pothead
I don't she is like that today, but I just think I don't have a reason to have her in my life. I told her that in a roundabout way, but she kept talking to me
Apparently, she is living in Fla. Now and is too ill to travel.I tried to get out of the convo gracefully by saying maybe I would see her at the class reunion then I heard about the travel ban for her I think she wanted me to feel sorry for her, no fun to be ill .but at least her hubby and kids are around. She even has grandchildren..lucky duck. We are both different people today though. Do you ever get contacted by people you really would prefer not to talk to?

I had a childhood friend that eventually became a best friend - but I had to end the friendship in our mid 20s. Her crazy problems were becoming problematic for me . . . she was too me me me. Ending it was the best thing I ever did. About 15 years later, she found me on FB through a mutual friend. We both went down different roads, but she said different time, same "s" for her. Her FB posts were (still are) so childish and problem filled like in our young adult years . . . I don't respond to any of them. If she sends me any messages, I keep it general and short.

@snowy22315 If you don´t like her as a person there is no reason to waste your time with her just because she is ill. If you want to help the ill, go to a child´s hospital.

I have the feeling if I started talking to her she would still be talking about the things she talked about in 9th grade!

I have discovered that life is too short to spend even one minute with people I don´t like. So I have a few friends and that´s it. After what you told us, if I were in that case, I would not waste my time with her. You can do what I do with people who try to sell me things. I tell them I MUST hang up as I have an egg frying in a skillet.

I have and I have probably been one myself. That being said, if you do not feel comfortable around someone, do not do it. There may be instances that can change, but until then its not worth it. People disappoint seven ways till Sunday.
You have a family now, they have to earn it to get to that. People who do not understand that are not worth your time.

I remember those college days. I knew a woman who literally took a roll of toilet paper from a restaurant's bathroom- her purse was pregnant but nobody hassled her. I wouldn't talk with her now most likely though I think she probably ended up being a school teacher.

That's not as bad as a napkin dispense, plus she was a perennial shop lifter.

I am not sure we did then. She was just somebody to hang around with and she had a cool car.
