November blabbering...

Good morning from this side of the planet . It is 10:50 AM and I am here enjoying my coffee break at work. Had back to back meeting and sessions from 8 in the morning. It's after almost 3 hours, I get some break and I would just enjoy my coffee and be here. My next session is from 12_12:45. It's an assessment and observation of a new child who is seeking admission to the next academic year. We plan to take him in our Montessori environment from January for 90 minutes daily to start with and then maybe for regular timings from June, if he settles down and is ready. He is close to 5 years, born a premature, his physical growth still looks like a toddler. Also, the speech is delayed. He is taking speech therapy and OT ( Occupational therapy) in the afternoon.
So, today would be his first day to school. We have asked the parents to bring him at 12, so that the younger group ( 2.5 to 4 years) leave and he can get more attention in the smaller group. Mom says that he gets anxious around too many children and noise. This Montessori environment has only 10 older children left in the afternoon and they are all kind of well settled and totally into following the norms of the Montessori.
I am supposed to observe him for few weeks ( till our Christmas break begins on 21st December) from 12-12:45. And then give a detailed assessment report to see if the child would need special needs care, one to one session and Individualized education plan. So, for another one month, I am leaving my workplace only around 1PM. So, I have made my lunch in the morning and I can have it as soon as I reach home . My home is 12_15 minutes walk from my workplace.
It's my first discussion in the month of November. Hope everyone had a good November and it continues to be same in this last week too.
It was a busy month, but a very good one for my progress on my project, my submission date is just few weeks away. I face the panel on 29th December. Also, it was a great month for many personal and professional accomplishments. But all that definitely kept me away from online space.
That's all for blabbering for now. I would move to catching up with some recent discussions in the time that I have. I am sitting outside in the lawn enjoying the sun. The temperature has dropped a bit, especially the mornings are chill and you need a jacket to come out of bed. I love this. And the sun is so pleasant on such days. I will kill some time mylotting and relaxing in this sun till the alarm reminds me that I have to get ready and go to the Montessori environment.
Have a good time in your myLot corner

I had a brief interaction with him last week when the parents brought him while doing some application filling formalities. He is a sweet child, not very verbal ( with delayed and limited speech), but very expressive with his gestures and has a happy smile most of the time. We have to see how he is once he faces some group of children around him.

Yes, very well deserved one. The morning was very busy busy. Three hours in a row can be overwhelming at times. It's pretty busy these days.

Hopefully your sojourn with the child goes well.
Pleasant weather sounds so fine.
Here the pollution has subsided a bit.
Yet it is still not good enough.
Glad to see a big Indian win in the Test match vs Australia at Perth.

It is easy for many to mention that kid needs attention and kid is anxious and all of that. Many take the easy route. However, it taks one good person or one good teacher to turn around for that child. Perhaps, if he can encouraged , cared there are good possibilities things could be better. I believe you have this opportunity to help this child and parents. There may not be any monetary benefits for the hardwork but as a teacher if you could go that extra mile , perhaps there could be many who would be indebted to you are your service. Do you best to help this child. All the very best Arunima!
