My parents were married 50 years ago today

On this day in 1974 my parents were married. Unfortunately my dad had a tragic ocean accident on Labor Day last year and he passed away the following day. So he is not here to celebrate with my mother. I texted her this morning while at work telling her that I was thinking of her today. She eventually responded with 2 pictures of her putting a bouquet of red roses into the ocean directly in front of where my grandparents' legendary boardwalk bar used to be and where my dad spent every summer when he was growing up. Of course those images immediately made me tear up. The beach and the ocean were my father's favorite places. I have always felt the same although my thoughts about it now are complicated. I hope one day to be able to go there and be happy again. Today is not that day. Neither is tomorrow. I'm glad my mother was able to go there to honor him and their golden wedding anniversary. I know my second parents were both there with her and I'm sure that they are keeping her busy today so she isn't alone. We all miss him so much.
