please let me be wrong

This is not a post about American politics. Its a post about worry. Its a post about loving my neighbors.
I know several people now who are Walking Depresseds. New word. Old idea. I am trying to squirm out of depression, too. January may be the start of a set of long years. Years filled with squeezing the little guy; years of higher prices for everything and anything needed for survival. I am hearing about folks who are attempting to feed and clothe the needy. Bless them for their efforts. How we're going to continue to be housed is a whole other oh Lordy.
I just made a batch of sugar cooky dough. I put in a half cup of almond flour for kicks so I will just drop these guys onto the cooky sheet, not roll them into shapes. Then hubby added a wrinkle: push a chocolate chip piece into the middle of each one. Such a naughty and welcome idea. Thanks, hubby.
So, yes, let me be wrong. Let the tariffs not tick off Mexico's leader or Canada's leader. Let somebody besides the little hungry family pay for the tariffs. Let the children grow up sturdy and strong, morals intact.

Try not to panic. Do the research. Don't assume the words mean bad things for us.

@sallypup Yeah, I know. Which is why you should learn what you can about it instead of living in fear of what might be.

Thanks @kaylachan. The idea of tariffs is a huge monster to me. The idea of a leader refusing to cooperate and work with other leaders is also a huge monster to me. The situation could so easily unbalance and start a war.

@kaylachan I am glad and grateful that I have a bit of a cushion. For those living on the edge, I am sad.

@sallypup Who knows. You may have happy surprises I would wait rather than already worry

@allknowing I wish I had that confidence. The guy appears to have little morals so caring for the Earth appears to be beyond him.

I wonder how soon his devoted followers are going to regret their decision? The thing that bothers me though is there were plenty of Republicans that would have done a lot less damage to the economy, climate and the people's ability to trust their leaders Why a convicted felon was the best person for the job..I'll never know.

@snowy22315 I think some followers are starting to ask questions. Having a felon is charge is such a bad example for the next generations.

I do not think many ''regular people'' are putting much thought into these tariffs. It is being said on several news outlets and I have also read that the tarriffs will cause Americans to suffer. I don't think it will help...and we do not need to spread any more dissention at this point.

I don't feel it's going to be great. Just hoping congress has enough willing to put the brakes on when needed

I hear ya - many of us are feeling it too - in more ways than one. Although I'm not particularly optimistic at the moment, I do want to focus on problem solving - to work on getting around whatever is coming our way. That's the thing though - the uncertainty of the road up ahead (even though some of us have already put 2 and 2 together). If in the end it's a better world, great . . . for now, honestly, I'm not feeling it.

I think that I understand what you are saying.
I saw on our news yesterday that he has announced a 25% tariff on anything that we import from your country.
And knowing that this was coming, just not the amount, I have already been doing my homework, checking to see what items that I buy that originate from the US. There is a short list, but that list will be finished come the tariff.
Sadly, it will mean a loss of jobs on both sides of the border.
What I question is when a parent company is in the US but items are manufactured in China, I'm not sure where the tariff will be there. That could get dicey.

With my anxiety I cannot afford to start worrying about something that might not happen or might not be so bad,
