Gotta get caught up: Gratitude Chronicles November 24, 2024 I am thankful for a mom who loved the Lord and loved her family. During our childhood years, she made sure we were taken care of, even if she had to do without. She made sure we were taught right from wrong. She guarded our minds and hearts. She made sure we knew we were loved. There are so many things I wish I would have done differently, a way to keep the prescription drugs from overtaking her. I beat myself up, constantly, because couldn't do more to stop what happened to her mind and choices. I miss my mom. I get to see her weekly and still miss her because she is not the person she was. She is said to have dementia, but that mind was stolen long before the diagnosis. She refuses to even let me pray with her. So, for now, I will choose to think on those beautiful days of the past when we did devotionals together and prayed about everything. She was my best friend and biggest cheerleader. I learned about how wonderful a passionate relationship is from watching her. Those were her best days. And mine are best when prioritizing Him. I am so, so thankful for the good memories. And, above all, I thankful that one day she will be made perfect and be doing what she used to love most-praising the Lord. This was her favorite song. Now she doesn't even care about music.
