Today is the busiest day of the year for restaurants and bars

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the US. I have long known that it is the busiest day/night of the year for bars because, well, my family owned 2 of them for years. People return home for the holiday and meet up with old friends and family while they are in the area. Back in my heyday that was the one night that I definitely didn't go out because it was always crazy busy. I learned several years ago though that it is also the busiest day of the year for restaurants. . . at least for takeout/delivery. That makes sense. People are busy preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday that they don't want to also deal with cooking dinner the night before. I am not going out tonight nor am I ordering dinner.

Heh. I'll be pooped when I get home from work. I'll either have frozen Stouffer's stuff or the remnants of a Subway sandwich I may buy for lunch.

I was going to order from a local restaurant this morning, knowing restaurants here on Thanksgiving are closed. To my surprise, my first two choices are closed today too, and open back up Friday. I thought that was kind of nice to give people an extra day off, and not just Thanksgiving Day.

Yeah, I know. In a few hours I know there'll be cars wrapped around a lot of drive-thrus.

I never thought of that. We basically never order take-away food.
