John 4:35 "..., I tell you open your eyes and look at the fields, they are ripe for harvest."
The chorus to one of my favorite songs goes as follows:
"Lord of the Harvest, place your fire in me.
servants You need now, servant I will be.
Give me the eyes of Your Spirit, Your heart of compassion to know,
Lord of the harvest, show me where to go."
I pray that prayer often. I need to be reminded that the harvest belongs to God, and I am the servant. I follow; He leads. As humans, we usually do one of two things- 1. get discouraged and give up. That is easy to do, especially today. It's like we are living in Sodom and Gomorrah, and the only answer is for God to burn it all down. However, He knows the truth of all. And we cannot let discouragement and hopelessness overtake us. We must keep pressing on. 2. We get fixated on a mission. Sometimes, we love certain people so much that we refuse to move on. God may lead us to move and minister somewhere else, because He knows that He has to take a different approach with the rebellious or complacent. He knows that somewhere else, we may be able to reap the harvest. Whatever the reason, our prayer should be for the Lord of the harvest to guide us.

That is true since even though our world is evil, we must not give up spreading the good news to persons who need to hear the gospel.
