Up and wide awake in the middle of the night

or extra early morning. It is 2:45am so I guess it is a matter of perspective. It is a good thing that I don't have to work today. I didn't feel well yesterday afternoon and evening. I eventually puked twice, took a Fast Asleep gummy, and went to bed just before 9. I texted my ex to say that I hoped his Thanksgiving was nice and goodnight. He replied "goodnight" and that was it. At midnight I woke up. I don't know why. But like a minute or two after that my Apple Watch dinged indicating that I had received a text message. Well there's only one person who would text me at that hour. Sure enough it was my ex asking if I was awake. I said yes and he asked if he could stop by. I said yes and he was here in fewer than 10 minutes. Adso and Claire were very happy to see him. Of course I was too. Well he just left about 20 minutes ago. I figured he was going to stay but he said he has a 7:30am Zoom meeting for work. I was surprised that he is working today. I've never known him to do that on Black Friday. In any case he said that he is supposed to go to the Poconos for the weekend so he will be finished by 2. What was weird was that he asked me if it was okay to go and said that I looked mad. I was surprised by that because he can do whatever he wants with his weekends and I wasn't mad. He said that the friends he was going with are flighty so they might wind up not going. He told me that he would let me know one way or the other if they go. I thought the comment was sweet but strange. Things have been much better between us over the past 2 months but there has been no acknowledged change in our status. There has not been any kind of conversation about it. He doesn't have to check in with me. It will be nice if he does though. So after 3 hours of sleep and a couple of hours of a visit it is now 3:05am and I am wide awake. The newest episode of Outlander is available today so I am going to put that on. Hopefully I will be able to go back to sleep after that.
