RFK Jr. promotes raw milk. California is recalling it due to bird flu.

Robert F Kennedy Jr. is an environmental lawyer who somehow has promoted himself as an expert on medicine, nutrition, etc. He has been nominated as the Secretary of Health and Human Services by Trump for his 2nd administration. He is a quack, a conspiracy theorist, and entirely unqualified. That didn't stop my MAGA mother from claiming today that he will fix food and nutrition in the US. I couldn't stop myself from laughing out loud at that. I actually was surprised that she didn't challenge me on it but I guess she was trying to behave for the holiday. RFK Jr. is on record as promoting raw (unpasteurized) milk and saying that it is the only milk that he drinks/uses. I understand the science behind the claims that it is better for you than pasteurized (enzymes aren't denatured by the heat) but I also understand that larger-scale dairy farms pose more of a risk for bacterial/viral contamination compared to the small family ones in past centuries. Well California is now recalling raw milk due to bird flu contamination. Herds of dairy cattle have become infected with H5N1 (bird flu) and there have been 55 confirmed cases of the disease in humans. Half of them have been in California. H5N1 is one virus that has been on my radar for like 20 years and isn't something that I would ever want to contract. The mortality rate can be very high. But RFK Jr. now wants the FDA to stop banning the sale of unpasteurized milk in many states. (It is legal in some like California) Sounds like a great way to protect public health. That is right in line with his anti-vaccine rhetoric. This guy did heroin for over a decade and claims to have had a parasitic worm that ate part of his brain. Excellent choice Trump!
