Nerding out to to my Sunday sacred music. Why do I say "nerding out"?

Listening to sacred music on KDFC is my Sunday morning tradition. Nothing particularly nerdy about that. The nerdy part is that I am comparing my 1979 DCM Time Windows with my 1971 Marantz Imperial 6 speakers.
My DC lawyer buddy Allen and I were stereo geeks back in high school, and spent some of our free time at stereo stores on the North Side of Chicago. He had Small Advent speakers and I had Dynaco A-25s. We were both jealous of each others' speakers.
When we talk on the phone these days we discuss politics, romance (his wife passed away from cancer several years ago), religion, recent reads and...our stereos. We laugh abut the old days and our jealousies in the search for "audio perfection on a budget."
For the last couple of years, I have been using my Marantz Imperial 6 speakers as my main speakers. I got them for free (in exchange for some woodworking) and restored them abut ten years go. A couple of weeks ago I hooked up the Time Windows. It's really close! Both sound great, better than my Dynaco A-25s or KLH Model Six speakers, I think. I have no reason to switch back to the Marantz speakers right now.
Do you have something you "nerd out" to? A certain video game? A certain author? Knitting? Reproductive strategies of rodents? Televised sports? I may look for old reviews on the DCM and Marantz speakers later this morning. That's nerdy. I'll call Allen later.
I'll try to find a photo of my "music room" that has both the Imperial 6s and the Time Windows in it. Wheee!
Aha! This photo is from when I was finishing up the Marant Imperial 6s. A Time Window (the odd-shaped speaker) is down and to its right.

Heh. I used to be a big sports fam. I could nerd out to a Sunday of football games, even if I didn't care who won. I even watched some college football replays this morning. Sunday! Football is on! But I cut off my TV. I really did forget that it's football Sunday. Let me go check the scores.

Nothing wrong with that. It sounds like you love speakers and music.

You have a lot of speakers. I nerd out when I talk about plastic pollution, climate change and the latest disease that is popping up somewhere in the world. Have a good week.

@TheHorse Thanks. It did the last few years. We are paying for it this year with the biggest s**w since the 1977-78 blizzard.

My nerding out, as you say it, is boring for most people. Cooking, books, and sewing. It's just what I like to do.
