Lesson Learned: Take Away My FB :D

So, there I was, mindlessly scrolling through Facebook when my curiosity got the best of me. A co-worker had just pointed out that my husband’s ex-girlfriend’s new friend was someone from the Philippines, and apparently, they were now dating. My first thought was, Who is this person? So, naturally, I went to check out her profile, trying to connect the dots. But here’s where it gets messy. As I’m casually looking through her posts and photos—totally innocent, right?—I somehow accidentally clicked Add Friend. My heart immediately stopped. It was like time slowed down. I sat there staring at the screen, debating what to do. Should I quickly cancel the request and hope she didn’t notice? Should I leave it, pretending it was totally intentional? Just as I’m in full panic mode, trying to decide, I got the notification: she accepted. I stared at the screen in horror, realizing that my slip-up just turned into an actual friendship on Facebook. Now, I’m in this awkward situation where I don’t even know why I was checking out her profile in the first place. And here I am, “friends” with someone who, as far as I know, has no clue who I am. To make things worse, the whole situation was triggered by the fact that my husband’s ex is now friends with someone who's dating someone that I know, and I guess I’m supposed to know about it? It’s a total mess, and I’m just sitting here thinking, What have I done? Lesson learned: never let curiosity—or a clumsy finger—lead you into an awkward situation. Especially when it involves exes and new relationships. Wish me luck, I might just delete my Facebook account until she forgets about me haha! I'm such an !d!0+.

Instead of freaking out, why not get to know her?

@Raine38 It might of been a mistake at the time, but the fact she accepted, goes to show, maybe not.

@kaylachan Thanks, Kayla. That definitely gave me hope that maybe, just maybe, I didn't mess up after all. I mean, we're all adults, I can't see why we cannot hang out despite who we know or who we're associated with right now.

That's not really a bad idea, as she's dating my co-worker we might even see her on one of our work functions. I just don't have any intention to befriend her in the first place, but I guess my nosiness got the better of me.

For the most I think this is a good idea. Especially if there are no good reasons for keeping in contact, like children for instance.

Glad to be of service! But ugh, I so don't need this. I cannot believe I was careless, but well, hopefully that's the end of it. But if something else happens, I'll make an update. Stay tuned!

Ooopsss! Just forget it. I hope you can rest your mind away from it. And never do anything more about it.

Hahaha, I hope so too! But it is all my fault for being nosy. Hopefully nothing comes out of it, and I am just overthinking, as per usual.

Don't delete until you see what happens. You might be adding more into it than what is there

I am probably overthinking this. At least I am friends with that co-worker, whom she's dating so I guess that's my out. Ugh, I don't know why I do this. I don't need this, but I brought this on, so I am blaming nobody else but me. Oh well!

You know what they say about curiosity? it will take you to places you really don't want to be.

It sure did! And thanks for phrasing it nicer. I will admit to it, I am being nosy. I am sure after a while I'll just laugh about this incident but for now, I try to move past it.
