Good afternoon.

Well I'll have to say the morning was a success. George got his meds on time and he even adjusted the couch to his liking by himself. I have laundry to do today and groceries to order as well. Monday tends to be my busy day in terms of house chores, but could be a lot worse. It's good to have things that I can do and be helpful.
It's still fall and winter weather type weather is here. Not making George or I want to do anything. And the washer and dryer are in the garage. Times like this, I wish we'd bought the house with the hook ups in the kitchen, but I'm glad we didn't. As much as I hate going out to the grage to do laundry when it's cold out I hate it even more if it was in my kitchen. Who wants to have laundry where you cook and prepare food?
The second appartment we had, had the washer and dryer just off the kitchen. That wasn't so bad, it wasn't in the kitchen. But meh. It's laundry. I'll get it done.
At least its sunny.

I'm not sure I would like that...wet laundry is heavy and I am a wimp.

From all of my visits to Florida, I know it seems to be rather common to have the washer and dryer in the garage. My family there have utility rooms indoors for theirs, but I’ve been told one of the reasons they are often in the garage is that they put off heat and your weather is hot. I have no idea if that’s the reason. I am fortunate to have a utility room off the kitchen, so mine is handy.

If the dryer vents outside, then it isn't so bad. You have airflow from the vent. So even though the dryer does get warm, the venting outside off sets that. Our last apartment, before we bought the house, the washer and dryer were in a hall closet. And that was warm and caused all kind of problems. George landed in the hospital because the bucket vent system they told us to use actually caused him to be on a vent for a day.
I also think it's common for the flood risk, too. Because our hot water heater is out there, too.
My house my parents built from the ground up built a ulity room for laundry.
I think it's space and builder perference, really. My house was built in 1960, so maybe garages were popular at the time?

@MarieCoyle If it frequently freezes you need to insolate those water lines which isn't cheep to do. But, I guess some people just like it out there. Out of sight, out of mind.

I don't really know. I am just super glad mine is in the house--of course, in Illinois any water lines in the garage would freeze and explode in our winter weather. My Dad built a house in south Texas in 1960, but he put in a utility room for laundry. One neighbor had his laundry in the garage, but Dad didn't want to do that.

We have a laundry room next to the pantry. It's small; but it suffices. Have a good day.

@kaylachan Today was a little better. Hopefully with the higher dose of meds they have me on, I'll get my mojo back.

I think it's more a space issue more than anything else, really. Apartments typically get a pass, because they build on-property ficilities for their tenents to use. But, in homes, you have to put them somewhere. And, the kitchen seems to be popular because of plumbing.
