12/6/24 - Update On My Husband

Spoke with him yesterday morning. He's never called me in the morning before. He is still a little confused. He thought yesterday was Sunday; and I was coming to see him.
The Social Worker called to set up a phone appointment with me on the 11th. We will discuss what my plans are for his discharge or not, etc. I will ask about long-term care...whether he can still get PT, if insurance will still cover it, what the difference is with the rate per day, etc. She also said I can get the results of his doctor's appointment by calling the nurses' station on the afternoon of the 10th.
Thank you for your continued prayers, support and thoughts.

They have long term care both at this place and the last one he was in.

Just be honest. Talk to her about how you both want him home, but you can't take care of him by yourself. Ask about full-time in-home care. She might be able to help you. Keeping him in a hospital setting doesn't do either of you any good.

@LindaOHio home health nurses do what the patient needs. Some patients just need a once a week visit to make sure everythng's good and there's no change to meds. Some need 24/7 care. It's based on patient requirement. Addationally, unless your husband is on I.V. medication, then chances are a caregiver will be more than enough.

I plan on it. I want him home. I'm tired of us being separated.

@kaylachan Yes, we can get home health nurses; but he needs 24/7 care.

I don't know. Depends on if he's strong enough to come home.

I haven't seen him for 3 weeks. I was sick and then the snowstorm hit. I will see him tomorrow. He is fine when I visit.

Sounds as if this social worker might be helpful.

I would not trust that place with long term care. I hope you are looking to get him moved back to where he was before or the VA.

She's not as bad as the social worker at the first place.

I’d love for you to have something from the VA to have that as an option going into the meeting. Anyway, good luck with it all!

@LindaOHio — also, usually, the post office will only hold mail for 30 days before they return it. You may have to get that mailbox replaced sooner than spring.

I hope you get some answers on the 10th about your husbands doctors appointment and certainly information you need on the 11th to make a decision about your husband and his continued care.
Please know that I think about you every day and pray for you both.

I want him to; but the last time he was home for less than 24 hours and fell 3 times. He will need to be strong to come home.

Yes, and you will need a bit of time to line up reliable help for him if he does come home. I know you don't want a repeat of what happened before. I hope you get all of your questions answered with the joint call, that will be good.

The current hospital that he is staying in, is it covered by insurance or you have to pay something yourself too?
