A Warning For You

So Monday I went to the post office and mailed a few Christmas cards. They were pop ups, therefore thick. Post office considers those packages. That means I can track them. Long story short, after talking to the post office yesterday and today, they believe they were stolen. They got ten other calls from people asking why their packages showed they never moved.
I went back today and mailed a few more. Some did NOT count as packages. Do I feel like I might be tempting fate with these being stolen too? Yep. But I bought the cards and I’m sending them. I WILL be getting refunded for the shipping costs from the stolen cards. I’m hand delivering the cards for the people who live around here. I’m not chancing it.
So I’m also sending more cards to the people whose were stolen. So hopefully they will get them THIS time. The guy I talked to today they have been hiring questionable people at the distribution plant, whatever that is supposed to mean.
Ugh. Beware!

That really stinks. We have had lots of bad postal experiences the last few years.

I learned my lesson when a credit card was stolen, do NOT mail anything this time of year.

@AmbiePam — or send them FedEx or UPS. Seriously, I’m going to ask my credit card company to send my new card that way, or to a bank branch and let me pick it up there. I’ve had two credit cards stolen…NOT out of my mailbox (that’s a locked box), but by the employees at the post office.

@wolfgirl569 I sure thought so. But if there were I would think they’d check them, and he said there was no way to tell.

What a humbug to steal Christmas cards.
I have the pop up card that you sent to me last year up and am enjoying that this year.
They are fun to pull out after you've put them away with the other decorations.
It was decent of them to acknowledge that you had paid for them and did not have to pay again, although you did have the expense of the card itself.
Pretty soon, you'll have to change your myLot name from Amber to popUp.

I did read an article not long ago, and I can't say which site it was on as I don't recall. Anyway, the way I understand it, if an envelope is thick, like a card with a gift card, or a pop up card, it is way more likely to be stolen, as there are workers sorting mail that are, as your postal worker said, questionable. They take them in hopes they can get a gift card. It was recommended in the article, not to send a gift card in an envelope. Who knew?
It's sad to hear that yours are 'lost' or stolen. More than likely, stolen, and that's just sad. I'm sorry, Amber.

Received my card yesterday. It used to be hard to get a job with the post office but they are desperate, just like schools are. Sometimes sketchy.

Just means they're giving anyone who asks a job without checking them out first.

That is so sad that your cards were stolen. Getting refunded for the postage is one thing but what about the money you're out for the cards themselves? Sorry you had to buy new cards. The post office really needs to get their act together especially for the prices they're charging.

The one place we would have had more trust has suddenly lost that! We all trusted the postal office to do the one thing- deliver the packages-getting them stolen is the worst way to see things. Well,it is definitely a big inconvenience in hand delivering the cards, but given the conditions that may be the best alterative possible in these situations. Perhaps , you could send few of them e-cards in case other things did not work. Well for me, I am only sending e-cards to my near and dear ones. More convenient although the personal touch will be missing. Hope things are better at your end. Enjoy the day!
