I got evicted!

No, it wasn't my "occasional" sneaking of a cigarette inside my house. And it certainly wasn't the constant stream of young French girls coming and going from my house.
It was non-payment of rent. I received the pay or quit notice on the 6th. It was pretty offensive, considering I've been living here for more than 20 years.
So why am I living under an overpass, and writing from my cell phone?
Because I ran out of checks. I am awaiting new checks from my bank, but they have not arrived yet. They might get stolen from my mail box. It has happened before.
I brought cash. They don't accept cash. I asked about PayPal. They don't accept Paypal. I took out my credit card. They are not equipped for credit or debit cards.
I stood in line at a branch of my bank. trying to "buy" a bank check. There were 20 people in line, and there was one teller. I gave up after less than 15 minutes. I had to go to work.
I have been buying fast food, and sharing it with the other homeless people around me. They don't have credit cards, so I like helping them out.
I'll let you know if my situation changes.
Have you ever felt "stone walled"?

I realize it’s a modern world and all, but cash should be accepted. At least you showed them you do have the money, so maybe they’ll let you stay until Monday. (Or you can go to 7-Eleven and get a money order….) (Kidding, go to Walmart instead.)

All grocery stores usually sell money orders at their service desk. I can’t remember how much they are because I haven’t bought but one in several years, but maybe $2-$3.

@MarieCoyle So I have to pay $3 because they don't accept cash or credit card? Oh, hell no! That's two weeks of MyLot earnings!

I looked the other day and realized for all of 2024, I have written 4 checks. We used to write checks for everything, now there are signs in many places that say, ''no personal checks'' but most people don't want to write one, anyway.

I got a message from my credit card, saying I forgot to feed it. I didn't forget, I just didn't know it was hungry again, because postal strike. Sigh.

I think I recall you talking about that happening before. Hopefully not the case this time. I would have to take one of my anxiety pills if that happened to me. I get so anxiety ridden if I have an issue with finances. Ugh! Hope this gets straightened out very soon.

It is god's way of telling you, stop romping around in your diapers, and find a nice American girl, who will not only cook for you, but also let you share her apartment....
But honestly Pony ji, that sharing fast food with homeless people is such a touching gesture....I would be head over heels...and trees and buildings and towers in love with you, if my health insurance and age and parent and sharks and flab due to food that I enjoy and will not leave...were not such big concerns. Stone walled. That was me objecting to paying 149.00 for blood tests. My hubby pays nothing. My Provider can not figure out the proper coding so I get billed. I call the Lab: you have to call the clinic. I call the clinic: call the Lab. I am stuck. Literally. I did change providers, though.

My sister always got her rent check at the customer service desk at her grocery store. They do not accept cash because you could accuse them of pocketing the cash and there would be no paper trail. You need a secure mail box for your important mail like checks and such.

No place should be allowed to refuse cash and if they do the bill should be counted as paid.

Wow, that is crazy. If you can, I would think about going somewhere that accepts checks, and debit cards. People don't carry cash like that anymore. I would even go as far as to ask them why they are not taking it out of your bank account every month account automatically. I would be writing a letter because there is no reason for them not to accept a card. I am so sorry that you are going through this. We had a truck payment at a bank where we literally had to go up there and pay cause they didn't accept online pay. Once we were able to change it to our current bank, we did because that was ridiculous, and the bank was horrible. I wish you Luck and I hope you find something new or you are able to work something out with them.

I hope this gets sorted out soon. Having stolen the bank cheques, what are they gonna do with them?
