Money can be a hard thing to figure out. Either you never have enough money. Or you just have enough but no emergency money. Sometimes you never have enough money to get everything that you need. Some people have strict budgets and never buy anything just to buy it. They never go out or have any fun. Sometimes you need to blow a little bit of money and have some fun in your life. Money is something that you have to have to survive. So you should pay your bills first and buy food. But you also need to have just a little bit of money just to blew. Some people will just spend all of their money and not have enough money for things that they need. I hope most people will only spend what they have to spend and not have to borrow money to make it through the month. Or put to much on a credit card that they can not afford to make the payments on.

We have always been frugal which has allowed us to take trips over the years and go out to eat once a month...now meals out are paid by the surveys, etc. that I participate in. Have a good day.

There was a time when our family lived in almost penury. Then I got a job. The day I Gog it ;my mother and my father instructed me to save at least one fourth of my salary and spend the rest on our needs. I did accordingly. They instructed me never to borrow money unless it is very necessary. Now I have resigned from my job to be my own boss. Now I earn more than thrice my salary; but I still follow the instructions of my parents.

It is true that for most people there are not enough money. Personally , I do have a $50000 debt that I am trying to close . With my current income source , do not think it would be easy to close that in a few years time. Given the inflation plus other factors , I also depend on other sources to minimize my current expenses and debt. I have not been very lucky in that aspect so far. I did repay some of my debts this year to bring it down to the current figure. I do control my expenses and do give importance to my outstanding bills and expenses alongwith saving a bit. The big target in my mind has been to be debt free and hoping to have that within next 3 years. I do not go overboard with my expenses.

It took all of my kids leaving home to be debt free. It is a good feeling having no debt.

Quite agree, a letting off a little steam is good for you... just so long as you don't spend a small fortune on a passing whimsy!

The key to having money, of course from my view, is to be frugal, save and most importantly, invest. Many people think this means making sacrifices. But that's actually not true. If one saves and invests, that money eventually replaces the need for W-2 wages, and money makes money. I tend to think life is too short not to be able to enjoy it, and it is why I advocate so hard for people to save and invest. I never desired to work my entire life only to arrive in my retirement years cash strapped and maybe not even healthy enough to actually enjoy retirement. Money allows one to have much more freedom earlier on, and to begin to enjoy life much sooner. Just my two cents worth.

When I was younger, I didn't realize the importance of saving. Now, I've learned how to manage my finances because I've experienced hitting rock bottom. Money is essential for survival, and it's important to know how to manage it properly.

You can not just spend it all the same day that you get it.

my parents were always preparing me for independence and giving me some good advices - one of them being just what you said - when you get you paycheck, first thing you do is pay your bills and buy food and leave something "on the side". i never had a problem with saving and spending smart
